The Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals were formed in 1967, by former Cleveland Browns head coach, Paul Brown. They were part of
the AFL (American Football League),
which was similar to the NFL (National Football League), and they ultimately became part of the NFL in the
merger in 1970.
The team is no stranger to struggles, but the talented players don't go unrecognized.
Fun facts
- Quarterback Ken Anderson was the passing yards leader in a season twice in a row not only on the team, but
the in the entire league.
In 1974, it was 2,667, and in 1975, it was 3,169. He holds the franchise title with 32,838 career passing
yards. Current quarterback Joe Burrow leads the franchise for passing yards in a single season at 4,611.
- Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase won the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2020,
they were attending LSU, playing against Clemson.
They faced Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawerence, and soon to be Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. Burrow
also won the Heisman trophy.
- Laura Vikmanis is the NFL's oldest cheerleader when she joined in 2009, she was 40 at the time. She was with
the Ben-Gals from 2009-2014.
